We went to dinner with Boone and his wife Ginny. They took us to a very beautiful restaurant. We ate way too much but it was amazing. Everything had shrimp or prawns in it.... I'm in love with the food here. We had brought them some gifts, Oregon Duck memorabilia and I brought Ginny a calendar of the beautiful Oregon coast and a Margaret Furlong ornament with the word "joy" on it. They gave us gifts as well. Ginny gave me a beautiful silver bracelet, a purple bead bracelet, and a skirt. I was overwhelmed by her generosity. Pat gat a wall hanging of Angkor Wat.
They then took us to the bus station where we would be leaving for Chiang Mai. Our bus was scheduled to leave at 8:30pm. I don't think we were expecting it to be so big. It was a double decker bus and we were on the top floor. The seats were close together and tiny for us Americans. We didn't have a seat together so Pat asked to switch with the young man I was seated with.
Our steward .... ess, was very nice. He/she gave us water and a snack box after we got on the road. The seats lean back pretty far and the foot rest came out as well. Pat really had a hard time because he couldn't really do anything but lay flat on his back. When the guy in front of him laid back, it looked like he was lying right on Pats crotch. Hee hee hee
This bus ride was 11.5 hours long. Our motto on this trip has been, "this is an experience" and I'm so glad we are doing it together. I'm a lucky woman, I'm married to someone who loves adventure and wants to experience new things.
