On our way to Koh Lanta

We got to Suratthani at about 6:45 a.m. Once we got off the train there was a lady who asked us if we needed a ride and she pointed us to where her group was to get us tickets to Krabi. Pat doesn't like it much if people are pushy so we headed out on our own to find a ride. This lady followed us and kept talking about how much it would cost and we should just get our ticket from her. Pat kept on walking and we asked others and she continued to follow us. It was quite comical really, Pat ignoring her and her following us. Pat finally told her thank you for the information, which he had done numerous times already. She got the hint and moved on. We took the local bus to the downtown area to catch the next bus to Krabi. I met the sweetest young lady on the bus, her name was Gift sangkunchon and she is in university studying English. She was in her 3rd year and her English was quite good. We had a 30 minute bus ride so this gave us time to talk. She gave me a beautiful Dream catcher that she made and I gave her my email address so she could look me up on Facebook. We have met so many wonderful people while we have been here. So helpful and kind. They try hard to answer you even when they don't know English. I do want to come back at some point because there is so much to see here that we didn't get a chance to see.

After getting to the bus station or so we thought we didn't have a clue where to go. We started walking and asking people but no one really spoke English. We got to where the next bus would take us to Krabi. The bus would leave at 9 so we got coffee and walk around a bit before it left. This bus was pretty comfy, not great but not bad. We both listened to our books and napped here and there as the ride was 2 hours. Once we got to Krabi we thought we would be able to just get on our next bus and head out. WELL, of course nothing is easy. They dropped us off at this station off the main road and told us that it was going to be 1400 baht for both us us. Again Pat doesn't like to be "told" what he has to do. :) so we started walking .... We've walked a lot on this trip. We walked down this dirt road and there happen to be two men, one from Italy and one from Holland. They told us that those guys were a bunch of f'ers .... Insert actual word .... Because they try to gip people all the time. They told us where to go to get a ride to Koh Lanta. We headed in the right direction but really weren't sure where we were going. We both had to potty so we stopped at a restaurant and got Iunch so we could use theirs. We decided to call the hotel where we were staying and she talking to the restaurant manager and he walked us to where we would catch the next bus. Pat saved us a total of 600 baht by doing this. Who says being ornery doesn't pay? :) we got to our hotel by 4:30pm. It took us all of about 30 minutes before we crashed in the wonderful bed. We woke up about 8:30 and went and got dinner. Came back to the room and crashed again!

We met another wonderful person on our ride from Krabi, his name was Alan. He was from Sweden. So very nice and he was a body builder. He was rather short but muscular. He talked about working for muscle magazine and meeting Awnold Swartzeneger (totally spelled wrong but I don't care). He has been to quite a few countries and he gave us some ideas about where to go next. Sweden was his first choice of course!
